MOLYS CREATIVE ARTS / KUALA LUMPUR

COLORS AS REBELLION
01 / ARTIST STATEMENT
Making space for what is felt, questioned, resisted and hoped for.
Moly walks the line between structure and soul, letting her work life support her art life. With her hands as brushes, she paints not just what she sees, but what she questions, resists, and hopes for. Her canvas holds a life in balance, quietly bold, deeply honest.

02 / BENEATH THE SURFACE
A practice shaped by lived experience.
Moly is a Malaysian visual artist based in Kuala Lumpur, whose work explores emotion, identity, and the delicate balance between personal truth and societal expectation. Though her creative journey began in childhood, it wasn’t a straight path to becoming an artist. Guided early on by family hopes for stability, Moly pursued a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management and spent several years building a career in the corporate world.
After working overseas, Moly returned to Malaysia in 2018 and committed fully to art. Visiting galleries, engaging with the local art community, and experimenting with materials became a rediscovery of purpose. Today, her work holds inner conflict, quiet resistance, healing, and the possibility that structure and surrender can coexist.
Becoming
For years, I built a career in the corporate world, choosing stability, structure, and responsibility over my deeper creative instincts. But art was never far; it lived quietly beneath the surface, waiting. In 2018, I made the decision to return to it, not as a hobby, but as a calling.
My work is rooted in emotion and shaped by lived experience. Influenced by abstract impressionism and conceptual art, I explore identity, healing, and the quiet tension between expectation and truth. Balancing a corporate life with a creative one has taught me discipline, perspective, and the importance of staying connected to what moves me.
This is my journey, a balance of duty and desire, structure and surrender, and I invite you to feel it with me.
